The Project

The NZCSA is building the climate resilience of small holder livestock farmers in the Dominican Republic. This project is co-funded with the FAO. The project helps the Dominican Republic reduce methane emissions from livestock by promoting climate-smart agriculture practices. It focuses on making farming more sustainable while improving productivity and resilience in the livestock sector.

Key actions include implementing a gender-inclusive Climate Smart Agriculture livestock strategy with financial incentives and market access considerations, delivering training for farmers and technicians to adopt climate-smart technologies, and establishing a robust Monitoring, Reporting and Verification system to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions. These steps strengthen national capacity, support climate goals, and open pathways to international funding.
