Jamaica Project
Timeframe
August 2024 to November 2025
Project Aims
New Zealand is providing agribusiness expertise to increase the Jamaican Livestock Sector’s productivity. The project is a collaboration between New Zealand expertise from Dunedin-based agribusiness consulting firm AbacusBio and AGRO-Invest, Jamaica’s Agribusiness agency.
The project includes farm visits and workshops to tackle challenges like feed availability, herd health, and sustainable grazing. It also runs feed trials and training programmes to boost productivity, cut methane emissions, and strengthen Jamaica’s capacity for low-emission livestock farming.
The projects will help farmers raise livestock more efficiently, include women and youth in the industry, and gives government the tools and funding plan they need to access international climate finance.
